Current Mood: accomplished
I am likely to be doing a semi-mysterious appearance somewhere in Auckland early on the 29th, and disappearing again on the 30th. Apart from a short bout o' school-related things at this stage, I'm mostly free.
Any other hēkeretari/people/bears I know that wanna meet, lemme know!

|[Virtually] definitely coming to the US in December
Current Mood: jubilant
Looks like I'm going/coming (depending on how you look at it, as Stan Freberg sort of says) to the US in December, and likely will be leaving in May.
All going well, I'll be heading to a conference in New Orleans first. If I can get accommodation sorted, I'll likely be doing a semester at a university in the northeastern US.
Will be spilling more details about once I hear back about that accommodation thing for the latter. Bear hugs!
[Edit: More like my nomination for the conference has been accepted, so I'm certainly going for that -- I'm just waiting to get the final paperwork from the host university, plus the accommodation stuff. Sigh. Oh, and changed title.]

|Another reason to waste money
I now have another reason to pretty much waste money -- the other one being paying the post office to collect newly-released postage stamps
-- Cool Britannia
, the English-Scottish-Welsh-Irish 'grocery' shop (really, just a pile of really nice sweets, lollies and general minor household goods) has opened their second branch. In Lower Hutt. My first visit to their new store was rather nice (and it's very well laid out like their Wellington store, which I also adore). I only picked up a $5 quarter of sherbet oranges this time, split in to a paper bag and another (airtight) cellophane one, so I was quite merciful on my budget this time. They (the sherbet oranges) are quite nice, so far.
My wallet is in trouble. Gulp.

|SIP after essays
Yay! 5,000 words on the trot. Actually, around 4,850. That will do. Now I've two weeks of having fun trying not to think about the stuff I have to do next for 407. Actually, I will.
(Been looking at the lj voice post interface. Turns out when the documentation said you can post via the Gizmo project
(or a local PSTN somewhere in the States), what the documentation
should have said was 'oh yeah, if you've got a SIP account, point it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Saves on pesky 5¢ calls
, if anything. Or so my previous few entries (friends-only) seem to suggest the shebang works.
Oh well. Now, two weeks of tidying the SCM cabin
, GEND 407
stuff, catching up with friends and probably lots of listening to Pandora
as well... yipeeee! :) Current Mood: tiredly whacked after essays
